Yes, we offer financial assistance in certain circumstances.
What do I get for becoming a member of the Coastal Riptide baseball program?
Where are the games played?
Unlike most Clubs, Coastal Riptide has established home fields that allow our kids to play in a true home field situation instead of renting fields and bouncing from field to field. Currently, our Coastal Riptide teams play in one of 3 locations. The Lebanon Little League fields in Lebanon, ME are home to our 9U and 10U teams. Our 11U and 12U teams split time between the Sanford Airport Fields and Berwick ME. Our 15U and 17U teams play at the St. Louis Fields in Biddeford. Having “control” of our fields allows our kids the opportunity to train and get optional work in during the spring town ball season.
Will Coastal Riptide conflict with Little League?
Coastal Riptide was founded on the premise of providing development and success for all its members. A core value to this is the continued work with our local town ball teams. The schedule is built not to interfere with town ball commitments whenever possible. Winter training is designed similarly, with our kids having multiple options for “getting their work in” and not interfering with the winter sports commitments.
Why play Coastal Riptide along with Town ball?
Coastal Riptide is a training program first and foremost. Our indoor training is a small group system with a player to coach ratio typically 4 to 1. Owning our facility allows for a practice schedule built around the kids and the concept of repetitive baseball training. This system gives our kids a great jump start to their town ball season.
What if I miss some workouts over the winter?
Winter workouts are part of the Coastal Riptide program. Rosters are designed based on primary and secondary position play. Players are not required to attend all practices. Spring play is not predicated on winter attendance. Practice plans and player access to the facility will also help if a player misses some practices and would like to come in to “get in some work” on his own.
How is playing time handled? Is it equal for all players?
Playing time is a system of primary and secondary position play. Variables around pitching and catching are used in this playing time format as Coastal Riptide balances arm care for all its players. Typically players are used in a primary format first. Our coaches try to use the 50% formula of playing time with player safety used as a gauge for secondary position play at the younger levels. 13U and above will use a similar system with team competitiveness used in player rotation. Coastal Riptide typically travels with a game roster of 12 kids. Playing two games on a given day will ensure players have plenty of playing time.
Do parents coach? Will there be favoritism?
Parent coaching at the youth level is a constant variable for all youth sports. Coastal Riptide is happy to have a powerful coaching staff with over 50 years of Varsity HS baseball experience. The ownership group is very particular about how and what Coastal Riptide teaches and how it is presented to our players in all phases of their season. Winter Training, gameplay, and player rotation are monitored. Coastal Riptide coaches are required to submit a weekend recap to review the gameplay; positive results and negative will be reviewed to better provide a rewarding experience for our players and their families.
Will there be more charges tacked on during the season?
Your tuition covers all training sessions, tournament fees, training gear, and uniform. You are responsible for your players black helmet and a Coastal Riptide bat bag, which will be offered on one of our stores durning the start of the season. If you would like to purchase extra apparel from any of our stores, that would be your responsibility also.
Can I volunteer to help with my child’s team?
Coastal Riptide coaches can offer a “volunteer” position, but all “on-field” coaches must meet with the ownership group for approval.
Can I approach the coach with problems or concerns?
Yes, but it needs to be done away from the field and players. We will instruct our coaches to NOT communicate with parents during the games for anything other than injuries or illness. Please wait at least 24 hours and contact your coach directly.
REFUND/ROSTER POLICY
Due to limited roster spots, once an offer has been accepted and a deposit has been paid, NO REFUNDS or CREDITS will be processed under any circumstances. The Coastal Riptide program reserves the right to switch players on different rosters when applicable. Coastal Riptide is committed to providing elite-level training, and we expect the same commitment in return from players and families. We thank you for your understanding. This policy applies to all levels of training.
