Season Tryouts

Coastal Riptide Travel Baseball Tryouts – Sanford, Maine

Coastal Riptide Travel Baseball hosts competitive baseball tryouts for players who want to compete at a higher level. Our teams play in the Perfect Game League and competitive tournaments throughout the season.

Unlike recreational leagues, travel baseball requires a stronger commitment to development, practice, and competition. Our tryouts are designed to evaluate players’ skills and determine who is the best fit for the Coastal Riptide program.

What to Expect at Tryouts

Tryouts include a series of drills so coaches can evaluate each player’s overall ability. Players will participate in:

• Fielding ground balls and fly balls

• Throwing drills to evaluate arm strength and accuracy

• Batting practice

• Position-specific evaluations for pitchers and catchers

Coaches also evaluate effort, attitude, coachability, and teamwork, important qualities for success in competitive travel baseball.

Tryout Location

All tryouts take place at the home of Coastal Riptide, the
Crystal Athletic Training Facility in Sanford, Maine.

Tryouts typically last about one hour.

Player Selection Process

After the evaluation period, coaches select players based on:

• Skill level

• Positional needs

• Overall team fit

Coach Chadbourne will contact families within a few weeks of the tryout to discuss player placement. Once selected, families will receive an email with instructions to secure their player’s roster spot for the season.

Coastal Riptide Season

Players who make the team will participate in:

• Winter training/practices

• Competitive travel tournaments

• League play and games throughout the season

Coastal Riptide teams travel throughout the region to compete against other high-level programs, helping players develop their skills and compete at an higher level.
