Our Mission

Coastal Riptide was founded by York (ME) High School varsity baseball coach Chuck Chadbourne with a clear vision: to offer a premier development program that supports young athletes not only in reaching their full potential on the field, but in becoming confident, resilient individuals off it.

We focus exclusively on players ages U8 through U17, offering a targeted, age-appropriate progression that builds fundamental skills, game intelligence, and mental toughness at every stage. Rather than growing wide, we grow deep—intentionally limiting the number of teams we field each season to maintain a high-quality, personalized experience for every athlete and family who joins our program.

At Coastal Riptide, our approach is built on four foundational pillars:

• Skill Development – We emphasize strong baseball and softball fundamentals through consistent, high-quality instruction. From hitting mechanics to defensive positioning and baserunning, our coaching is technical, detailed, and tailored to each athlete’s needs and position.

• Mental Preparedness – Success on the field starts with a strong mindset. We help players build mental toughness, focus, resilience, and leadership—traits that will serve them not just in games, but in school and life.

• Physical Conditioning – Our training incorporates age-appropriate strength, speed, agility, and injury-prevention work. We prepare players physically to compete at the next level while instilling healthy habits that last a lifetime.
• Teamwork & Character – We teach players how to be great teammates—how to lead, communicate, and contribute to a positive team culture. We hold our athletes to high standards of sportsmanship, accountability, and integrity.
